Hello, friends!
I’m Elizabeth Holloway, and I created this page with one simple goal: to be a little ray of light for the everyday Christian striving to live for their Savior. Life can be challenging, but we’re not alone on this journey, and my hope is that my words can offer encouragement and strength along the way.
Writing has always been my go-to way of expressing my thoughts and feelings. From a young age, I found comfort in both reading and writing. But it wasn’t until I pursued my Christian Counseling Certificate at Wilson University that I realized how deep my passion for spiritual writing ran. This sparked something in me—a desire to share the encouragement I found in writing with others. I began writing papers for my church on topics that weighed on my heart, often inspired by preaching, podcasts, and Bible study. Writing these papers not only helped me grow spiritually, but it also became a source of strength for me during difficult moments.
Through prayer, I felt a strong nudge to share my writings on a larger scale, and that’s how A Redeemed Ruby came to life.
The name “A Redeemed Ruby” came to me while reading Proverbs 31. The verse that struck me was Proverbs 31:10: “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” (KJV). I’ll be honest, at first, I thought I could never be that woman. She seemed so perfect—strong, kind, industrious, and flawless. How could I possibly measure up?
But then, I read Proverbs 31:30: “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” And Revelation 5:9 also resonated with me: “Thou art worthy… for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.” (KJV)
That’s when it hit me—I can be like the woman in Proverbs because I’ve been redeemed by the blood of Jesus. I am a daughter of the King, saved by grace. Through Christ, I’m being transformed, shedding my old self and clothing myself in His love and strength.
So, A Redeemed Ruby became more than just a name. It’s a reminder that, without the redeeming blood of Jesus, I could never hope to become the woman whose worth is far above rubies. But because of His sacrifice, I am redeemed, and I am walking in my purpose.
I’m so thankful for this redemption, and my prayer is that my words can encourage you on your own journey of faith. I’d love for you to join me on this adventure, and I pray that something here will inspire you as much as writing has inspired me.
